CYANOTYPE printing is a photographic process that was first developed in the 1840s and the actual techniques have pretty much stayed the same since then. With the use of certain chemicals you can print botanicals or in fact many other objects to create negative images by using the sun's UV light to expose the image. Cyanotypes are known for the amazing shades of deep blue that develop within 24hrs of exposure. Hence the prints are traditionally known as 'blueprints'.
